Morris Middle School - AVID Outreach

On May 5, 2012, Dr. Lawton spoke to 59 Morris Middle School students about planar geometry . Students drew on balloons to discover triangle whose angles add to 270 degrees, and made hyperbolic paper to see triangles whose angles add to approximately 80 degrees. Additionally, students learned about geodesics and what the word "line" means on a non-flat surface. The students participated in a (pre/post) survey gauging their interests and perceptions of mathematics. Survey Results.

The students' faces have been blurred to protect their identity
